Description of Bella Cernobbio, Lake Como:
Made of Moltrasio stone and wood, the house is laid out on two floors. The gardens of Bella are set on two levels, and leaning over the garden balustrade you will enjoy amazing views of the lake. The name reveals that it is only the dependance/guesthouse of a much larger villa (not offered here, see panoramic picture with the white villa below). Although the main villa and the guesthouse are located on the same grounds, they are fully detached. The guests of Bella are welcome to enjoy the extensive and wonderfully designed Italian gardens of the property. The pool is shared with the owner, who lives in the main villa.
This historical property has been owned for centuries by an important Italian aristocratic family. It is located 3 km north of Cernobbio, between the famous Villa d'Este Hotel and the villa owned by actor George Clooney; nearby are the famous Villa Balbianella and the villa owned by fashion designer Versace. It is within walking distance of a variety of shops and restaurants, therfore it could be suitable if you travel without car. The closest train station is just 10 minutes by car away, in Como. Milan can be reached in 30 minutes; or across the border into Switzerland, Lugano is just half an hour away.
The house is decorated with fine antiques and elegant Italian designer furniture. The large modern living room is furnished comfortably with white sofas, a fireplace and has a beautifil view of the lake. The dining room has a table that seats 10 comfortably and has direct access to the kitchen, which is bright and airy, with modern stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The house is equipped with satellite TV (with CNN), as well as telephone, a computer with Internet access and a stereo in the living room. There are two fireplaces: one in the living room and the other in one of the bedroom suites.
The historical gardens of this property are considered some of the most beautiful at Lake Como. The gardens are laid out on several levels, starting from the main villa on top of the hill; below is the pool area, and further below is the guesthouse (located on the level marked by a yellow sign, see picture on the bottom end). Guests will enjoy fresh flowers from the cut flower garden and rose garden. There is also an orchard garden. Our guests are welcome to enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables from the extensive vegetable garden during their stay. The swimming pool terrace is spectacular. The terrace is decorated with lemon plants in terracotta vases and surrounded by olive trees. On the pool terrace there is also a beautiful 200 year old greenhouse. The pool is located in the warmest part of the garden and shared with the property owner living in the main villa (not offered in our portfolio). The views from here over Lake Como are stunning. Overlooking the swimming pool is Sant' Agata's 12th century belltower.
The extensive property ends at the lake shore. A path leads to the berthing area. The berthing area is beautiful. It is encased in antique Moltrasio stone both on the walls and on the steps leading to the water. The berthing area is filled with roses, creeping jasmine and oleander. We have two boats moored here. One is a 32' hand-crafted boat built of mahogany inside and out that is perfect for long cruises on the lake. The other is a 19' boat for village hopping, waterskiing, fishing and other sports activities. A skipper is available (please check prices on the premises directly with the property owner).

Please note: Two bedrooms on the ground floor (1 double and 1 twin) are separated by a sliding door and therefore they are not totally private (altthough they have their own entrance each). Smoking is not allowed in the house.
Reservations are not limited to rental periods from Saturday to Saturday. Minimum 7 days.
Pool size: 15 x 7 m / opening dates: June 1st - September 30th.
