Description of San Siro Villa Lake Como:
The house has been redecorated and furnished by the owner in 2003 - she has done her work magnificently. The little Villa has three floors. On the main floor there is a bright kitchen-living room with access to the terrace. Small steps lead to the lakeshore. This floor has six high windows - almost all face the lake. Several of the many windows are French doors which open either onto the balcony or the patio. If you want to avoid the direct sun, shutters will provide pleasant semi-shade. The upper floor has a bright sitting room leading into the two double bedrooms. One of the two bedrooms has a raised area with two single beds (perfect for kids). Both of these floors each have a bathroom. In the basement there is a pleasant surprise - a small sauna..
The furnishings are a real achievement! The house has a youthful, elegant flair. It has been cleverly furnished. Stylish wooden furniture in natural colors contrasts well with the whitewashed walls. A painted wooden boot adorns the kitchen ceiling. Two of the three floors have balconies facing the lake.
There is a sitting area in front of the kitchen, behind which there is a pretty, sunny, stone patio. Here you can enjoy your dinner outside and the marvelous view on the azure water. Stone steps lead down to the water where rock formations and pebbles decorate the shore. Here you can glide into the water - not just in the hot summer but perhaps also in winter - having a refreshing dip after the visit to the small sauna inside.
This little beauty is an outstanding house with a well-accomplished interior and a beautiful view of the water close by - a little lakeside gem! In the small village of San Siro you will find a grocery store, a pizzeria, a restaurant and a bus stop. On shore of the lake there are water sports facilities (boat rental, sailing, surfing), and there are a number of scenic trekking routes that begin at the lake. Furthermore, San Siro is a pretty, antique hamlet where you can still feel the atmosphere of the ancient past and view the beautiful castle with arcades dating back to the year 1000.
By the way - the best way to reach the long lake is not by car but by boat. Ferries will take you across to the other small lakeside towns, villages and islands. The next stop is at Menaggio, only 5 km from your house. In Menaggio there is also a golf course and tennis court. Menaggio has all you need - restaurants, trattoria, alimentari, tabbachi and such.
Como is located 30 km to the south. Elegance surrounds you in Como: straightforward architecture, elegant shops between the town wall and the promenade and stylish, wood-panelled caf?s. Furthermore, the town of Como is a worldwide leader in silk production. Even private customers will have the unique opportunity to buy material, scarves or ties directly from the manufacturers in Como. Como has a railway station where you can take a quick train ride to Milan. If you consider that Lake Como is actually situated pretty far north, you will be pleasantly surprised by the mild lakeside climate. Specially the west shore of Lake Como is famous for its mild climate and one of the most scenic lakeshore promenades: There are vines growing beside the lake and several lakeside villas have lush palms and bamboo plants in their magnificent gardens...
