Description of Villa Botanica:
This completely private walled estate offers a fascinating glimpse into St. Thomas's history for your holiday pleasure. Villa Botanica was originally a 200-acre sugar and cotton plantation in the 18th century, and 100 years later was converted to a botanical garden by the Danes. Today this idyllic 5-1/2-acre estate, set around historic ruins and the old sugar mill and steeped in island tradition, has been brought into the 21st century as a unique and romantic luxury villa surrounded by your own 2-acre Garden of Eden. Villa Botanica is graced with lofty royal palms, an orchidarium, countless varieties of trees, succulents, bromeliads and a large array of flowering tropical flora, lawns, and a large pond and waterfall, all threaded together by stone and grass pathways woven through this natural splendor, dramatically lighted at night. Old "coppers" used in sugar production centuries ago still sit on the estate. The air-conditioned villa itself offers three pavilions with a spacious Great Room, a large kitchen, two bedroom/bath suites, well separated for perfect privacy, and wonderful breezy, covered alfresco dining and lounging areas which bring nature's tropical beauty right to you. A garden pathway meanders from the living areas up to the completely private pool, hot tub and sun deck area, which overlooks the town and harbor of Charlotte Amalie to the east. Bamboo, wicker and West Indian antique pieces enhance the island magic of Villa Botanica's elegant interiors. Rental Notes:
VILLA BOTANICA IS AVAILABLE FOR LARGE WEDDINGS, GROUP FUNCTIONS, RECEPTIONS AND PARTIES, for up to 200 persons: FOR 1 to 59 PERSONS: Use of Villa Botanica's facilities only is $375 per hour (with a 4-hour minimum charge). FOR 60 to 200 PERSONS, the charge is then a flat fee of $25 per person. Professional catering, bartending and servers are provided at Villa Botanica by Alex + Nancy, an excellent and reputable team with years of experience on the island...they will be happy to contact you and work directly with you on menus, pricing and all arrangements for your special occasion. Table linens, tableware, tents, musicians, other rental equipment and decorations, etc. will be arranged for your party by Alex + Nancy to your specifications. Should you wish to use your own caterer, there is a 10 per cent charge to Villa Botanica of your caterer's fee. All outside caterers must be licensed in the USVI, and must name Villa Botanica and Villa Managers Luxury Villas as additional insureds on their liability insurance policies.
